Whenever someone outside the family gives me a present, I always cherish it tremendously. To me, the act of giving me a present symbolizes friendship, respect and honor. So you can easily imagine how elated I was when one day a Japanese client of mine gave me a small pot of African Violet flowers as a token of her appreciate for my service. Even though a pot of African Violet flower worth less than $3.00, I was still touched by her thoughtfulness. Afterall, how common is it that a client would return to a psychic office to give a present? I immediately fell in love with the plant. Simultaneously, I decided to propagate my happy feelings with my favorite clients whose office was not far from mine. I felt the urge to infect them with my feelings of appreciation and acknowledgement by re-enacting the same tactic as my Japanese client had done to me.
The next early morning, I visited the flower shop. Unfortunately, the shop was left with 4 pots of African Violets. They all looked rather tattered and aged. The shop owner told me that these pots were to be thrown out but if I wanted them, he would sell them to me for $2.00. He reassured me that African Violet is a rescillent plant and with proper care and handling, it can bloom twice a year and last for years to come without ever transplanting. I hate to see such beautiful plants be wasted. So without hesitation, I bought them and figured I could give 3 away to my clients and 1 to a friend.
While I was in the elevator with my hands full of African Violet flowers, I wondered if my clients would appreciate my intention. In Asian culture, it is a common practice to give pots of plants to the business owners. Green plants in particular are percieved as lucky charms for business prosperity. I hope d they would appreciate my genuine intentions.
As I was approaching their office suite, I held up the plants and mentally said to them, "Dear African Violet plants, it is with great joy that I am going to be giving you away to my favorite 3 clients. I hope you will bring them joy, luck and prosperity as much as my African Violet has brought to me in less than 24 hours. I am saying a little prayer to each one of you and asking you to please shine your blessings to whoever becomes your owner. There are 2 bosses and a secretary. Whoever pick you will take good care of you and in return, you shall bring them abundance and enjoyment." I never told anyone of them about my little prayer because I did not want them to think I was being superstitious.
